Four months after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor 68 years ago today, a mostly symbolic bomb run was initiated over Japan. It bolstered the American spirit with a oh yeah in your eye reply and a promise that we'll be back and the Americans were, culminating with the birth of the atomic age in 1945.
